Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Q & A

What is BrainsWay Deep TMS™?

BrainsWay Deep TMS™ is a painless, non-invasive, non-surgical, drug-free treatment that is FDA-cleared for depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and smoking cessation.

A helmet with embedded H-coils is placed on the individual’s head, and through electromagnetic conduction, brain areas associated with psychiatric conditions are stimulated. The stimulation by BrainsWay Deep TMS™ regulates neural activity in specific brain regions, decreasing the frequency and severity of the individual’s symptoms.

Does BrainsWay Deep TMS™ work?

Research shows that TMS is highly effective, even in patients who have previously not received relief from typical psychiatric treatments, such as prescription medication. Three out of four patients show improvement in symptoms, and over half enter remission from depression.

What conditions can TMS treat?

The BrainsWay Deep TMS device is FDA-cleared for:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Smoking Cessation

What happens at a typical BrainsWay Deep TMS™ appointment?

After completing a psychiatric evaluation for BrainsWay Deep TMS™ eligibility at Interventional Psychiatry Group, the treatments can begin in our outpatient clinic. You will sit in a comfortable chair for 30-40 minutes with the BrainsWay Deep TMS™ helmet on and receive the treatment under supervision by our certified BrainsWay Deep TMS™ staff.
